LCU Mission trip

DSCN1411

Thanks so much to the group that came down from Lincoln Christian University in Illinois this past week, led by our US Marketing Coordinator Lindy Manuel. These seven students were a great help to us and an encouragement to the staff and the beneficiaries whom they impacted.  It was a fun and lively group.

During their time here, they helped start the building of a bathroom for Carmen Guachala, one of our beneficiaries. When we went to their house the same day that they came in from the airport at four in the morning. Despite the early morning, they were excited to be here and they worked enthusiastically. They also talked and played with Carmen Guachala´s kids, sharing God´s love despite the language barrier. They then came two days later and finished the job, leaving Carmen´s house in better condition than they found it.

They helped us prepare several of our regular programs, including the Sunday morning program, the Wednesday night program, and the Club de Padres y Niños. They helped cook, clean, set up tables and chairs, and teach the children. A few of them even learned a song in Spanish to help lead worship for the children.

They also did a basketball camp for some of the children of our beneficiaries. Several of the team members had experience playing with a basketball team, so they were well equipped to teach the kids how to play. Twenty three kids attended the basketball camp each day. They did devotions together, stretched together, practiced shooting, practiced passing, and practiced dribbling. Then at the end of the camp, they played a game against each other. Their smiles showed that the work was well worth it.

It has been a blessing to be able to meet these people. The short term mission groups that we host are a great part of our ministry. The work that they do helps us reach our goals as a ministry and gives our staff support. Mission teams help make our work more efficient and effective, and it helps us complete projects. If you are interested in bringing a mission team down, let us know! If you or your group have a special skill you can share, consider making it a part of your trip. Thank you to everyone who prayed for this group that came down and thanks again to the group for the work that they did here!
