Austin Espinosa is 6 years old and lives in the indigenous community of Cuaraburo in Otavalo. For years, his teachers described him as “distracted” and “difficult to work with,” but everything began to change when a teacher experienced in working with children with special needs suggested that Austin might have autism.
To receive the therapy he needs and qualify for disability benefits, Austin requires an official diagnosis that specifies the degree of autism. After a long year of waiting in the public healthcare system with no response, his mother, Luzmila, shared their situation with Pan de Vida. Thanks to God, Austin has received an initial diagnosis, but determining the exact degree will require an MRI under anesthesia and follow-up studies.
Pan de Vida is committed to supporting Austin by raising the funds needed for these medical exams, helping him gain access to the therapies and opportunities he deserves.
