Verónica Araujo is a single mother of two children and grandmother of a young grandson. After experiencing domestic violence, she was expelled from her home by her husband. With no support or resources, she sought refuge with her children on a small piece of land inherited from her parents, where—thanks to her skills in masonry—she built a makeshift house on her own.
Her only source of income comes from occasional construction work with her brother, while her older sister—also a mother of six—helps when she can. Despite the challenges, Verónica has never stopped fighting for her children’s well-being and education, trusting they will one day have a better life.
She first heard about Pan de Vida through a neighbor who is part of the Life Gardens program. With her knowledge of agriculture, Verónica quickly joined and now maintains her own garden, which provides her family with fresh produce she grows herself.
Recently, a mission team from the United States, in partnership with Pan de Vida, came to her home to help improve her living conditions. They plastered walls, built the foundation for a bathroom, and transformed a fragile structure into a safer and more dignified space for her and her children. She was also a beneficiary of the Christmas Program, receiving food and toys for her children—bringing joy to her home during a difficult season. Verónica sees all of this as a clear sign of God’s faithfulness and provision, which has never failed her.
She expresses deep gratitude to Pan de Vida and to those who made all of this possible, but above all, she gives glory to God for every provision, every door that has opened, and every person He has placed in her path. Today, she continues to strive for a better future for her family, with renewed faith and a grateful heart.
