Verónica Araujo is a single mother of four children and grandmother to a young grandson.
After experiencing domestic violence, she was expelled from her home by her husband. With no support or resources, she sought refuge with her children on a small piece of land inherited from her parents. Drawing on her skills in masonry, Verónica built a makeshift house on her own—a symbol of her strength and resilience.
Her only source of income comes from occasional construction work with her brother, while her older sister—also a mother of six—helps when she can. Despite these challenges, Verónica has never stopped fighting for her children’s well-being and education, believing in a brighter future for them.
She first heard about Pan de Vida through a neighbor involved in the Life Gardens program. With her background in agriculture, Verónica quickly joined and now maintains her own flourishing garden, which provides her family with fresh, homegrown produce.
Recently, a mission team from the United States, in partnership with Pan de Vida, visited her home to help improve her living conditions. They plastered the walls, built the foundation for a bathroom, and transformed what had been a fragile structure into a safer, more dignified space for her family. Today, Verónica has a fully functional bathroom—an essential improvement that has brought both comfort and dignity to her daily life.
She was also blessed through the Christmas Program, receiving food and toys for her children, bringing joy to her home during a difficult season. For Verónica, all of this is a clear sign of God’s faithfulness and provision, which she says has never failed her.
With a heart full of gratitude, she thanks Pan de Vida and everyone who has made this journey possible. But above all, she gives glory to God—for every provision, every open door, and every person He has placed along her path. Today, she continues to work toward a better future for her family, with renewed faith and unwavering hope.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
