INGRID APOLO VILLAFUERTE

Ingrid Apolo is a 32-year-old Ecuadorian woman and single mother of Denisse and Johan. Ingrid’s life has been a constant struggle, especially financially. Despite having filed child support claims, neither of her children’s father contributed financially. After several failed attempts, she decided to stop insisting and focus on working to support her family. With only a primary school education, her employment options are limited, but she does not give up.

Ingrid works in informal cleaning jobs and sells “bolos” and jellies. She also makes handicrafts for special occasions and sells them on the street. Selling “bolos” and jellies is complicated because she does not have her own refrigerator, but fortunately, a neighbor lends her one.

Her seven-year-old son Johan is in third grade. Although it is a challenge to afford his uniforms and school supplies, little by little they manage to buy what he needs. Her daughter Denisse, on the other hand, has frequent coughing problems, which is why her mother took her out of kindergarten because she gets sick a lot and has no money to buy the medicine she needs. Despite all the difficulties, Ingrid considers herself an entrepreneurial woman. She is constantly looking for creative solutions to generate additional income and ensure the well-being of her children. Pan de Vida saw her potential and has decided to support her by providing her with entrepreneurial talks, food kits, and medical care, allowing her to strengthen her skills and improve her quality of life.

In addition, Ingrid’s family will be part of the hot meal program, a space where they will be able to share with other families and learn more about God. This program will not only provide them with nutritious food, but also a supportive community and a spiritual environment that will strengthen their faith and hope.
