María Clemencia Tabango

María Clemencia Tabango, 51 years old, is one of the champions of the Life Farms program in the community of Pijal. From the very beginning, Clemencia has shown a genuine passion for learning, serving, and sharing with others. After attending the Pan de Vida workshops, she began applying what she learned in her own garden and soon felt the desire to multiply that knowledge by teaching other families in her community.

Today, Clemencia opens the doors of her home to teach her neighbors how to grow their own food, care for their plants, and make the most of the resources they have. In each gathering, not only are seeds and vegetables shared, but also smiles, advice, and hope.

Her commitment goes beyond cultivation: she visits the families she supports, listens to their concerns, and helps them strengthen their gardens. She is always eager to improve, putting every recommendation into practice and generously sharing what she learns with others.

Despite challenges—such as losing the chicks she received through the “chain pass” initiative—Clemencia never gave up. Instead, she chose to share what she did have: she gave two families four female guinea pigs and one male each, fulfilling her promise to bless others.

Clemencia’s story reminds us that when one person chooses to share from the heart, their example can transform an entire community.
