Meifer Prado

Meifer Prado is a single mother to her one-year-old son, Gael.  She immigrated to Ecuador from Venezuela in 2023. Like many other immigrant mothers facing difficult circumstances, Meifer has had to be incredibly resourceful to care for her child. She earns under $150 a month by making and selling handmade perfumes and soaps—a job that requires creativity and determination.

Earlier this year, Meifer joined Pan de Vida’s micro-entrepreneurship classes, where she not only learned valuable business skills but also had the opportunity to present her project in Pan de Vida’s “Shark Tank”  event. This experience opened new doors and gave her the confidence to keep pursuing her dream of building a stable future for herself and Gael.

In addition to participating in the entrepreneurship program, Meifer also attends Pan de Vida’s hot meal program, where she receives nourishing food and the support of a welcoming community along with Biblical teaching. Pan de Vida has also assisted her with essential needs like medical appointments, food, and diapers—relieving some of the burden she carries as a single mother.

More than anything, Meifer has found hope through the Christian community that surrounds her.  She has sought to find Christian friends, and the care and encouragement she has received have reminded her that she’s not alone—that God is present and working through those who walk alongside her.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)
