At 53 years of age, Francisca Jetacama Espinoza lives in the community of Chuchuqui with her family: two children, her husband, and her brother-in-law, who is elderly and has a disability that complicates his mobility. Life there is simple but full of plenitude. Francisca and her husband add to the family’s livelihood by selling chochos on the street in the city of Quito, an activity they do with great commitment twice a week.
Change came into Francisca’s life when her sister-in-law, aware of the challenges they faced, told them about the Pan de Vida Foundation. Motivated by her words, they decided to apply to one of their programs, never imagining the significant impact it would have on their lives.
Thanks to Pan de Vida, Francisca became a beneficiary of the Life farm in our program. This project has improved their diet with fresh and nutritious vegetables, grown by themselves, and has added a dimension of joy and purpose to their existence. Tending the life farm has strengthened family bonds, taught them about responsibility and hard work.
